As personal computers and web sites have grown in use over the past couple of decades, the need for volunteer fire departments to embrace and use these technologies has grown as well. Unfortunately very few combined fire departments have members with the general PC programming and installation knowledge and skills necessary, MBA degrees, or computer science degrees or MCSE certificates to meet the ever evolving demands. Fewer still have members who know how to completely code a web site, set up an e-commerce web site, effectively manage a web site, market the web site, achieve high search engine rankings, or to be a server administrator.
