Fire Departments If you have tried to visit and contact another fire/EMS department and their web site didn't exist, was off-line, or didn't give you the information you need, or means to contact them, then you know exactly what we mean when we say there is a major problem throughout the fire service. And as we know, combined fire departments do not have members with the time or expertise to develop and manage web sites. Like any other business, even volunteer, combined and EMS departments are growing more dependent upon computers and web technologies on a daily basis. As personal computers and web sites have grown in use over the past couple of decades, the need for volunteer fire departments to embrace and use these technologies has grown as well. Unfortunately very few combined fire departments have members with the general PC programming and installation knowledge and skills necessary, MBA degrees, or computer science degrees or MCSE certificates to meet the ever evolving demands. Fewer still have members who know how to completely code a web site, set up an e-commerce web site, effectively manage a web site, market the web site, achieve high search engine rankings, or to be a server administrator.
